Cooking-with-a-Hyphen: Food Bloggers for Diversity.

Nada é mais representativo da identidade de uma comunidade, seja ela um grupo, uma povoação, uma região ou um país, do que a sua alimentação. A globalização, nos seus diversos aspectos, tem contribuído para a partilha e aceitação de cada identidade, permitindo que ela se mantenha única, para o que tem sem dúvida contribuido a comunidade de food bloggers em todo o mundo.

Tal como na alimentação, também a diversidade humana nos seus diferentes aspectos culturais, religiosos, e outros constitui uma das maiores riquezas da humanidade. Os Estados Unidos da América têm sido desde a sua criação um exemplo para o mundo da coexistência pacífica dessa diversidade.

Infelizmente o mundo tem assistido nos últimos tempos a mudanças na América que podem pôr em causa esta riqueza. E é como food blogger e cidadã do mundo, com um sentimento especial de respeito e  admiração pelos valores da América, que me junto à comunidade de food bloggers em todo o mundo nesta iniciativa de “Spoonfuls of Germany”, um blog de uma imigrante alemã a viver na América há 19 anos:

“Cooking-with-a-hyphen is a statement: that in America, we are all from somewhere else, that we are all different yet we are all equal, and no single group can claim America for itself.

Diversity gives America its strength and energy. It’s the reason I am here, and I am not going to let that America go.”

Nothing is more representative of a community’s identity, be it a group, a village, a region, or a country, than its food. Globalization, in its many aspects, has contributed to the sharing and acceptance of each identity, maintaining its uniqueness, to what has undoubtedly contributed the food bloggers community throughout the world.

As in food, human diversity in its different cultural, religious, and other aspects is also one of the greatest richness of humanity. United States of America, since its creation, has been an example to the world of a peaceful coexistence of that diversity.

Unfortunately, in recent times, the world has witnessed changes in America that can undermine this richness. As food blogger and citizen of the world, with a special feeling of respect and admiration for the values ​​of America, I’m joining the community of food bloggers around the world in this initiative of “Spoonfuls of Germany”, a blog of a German immigrant living in America for 19 years:
